With the idea of speeding up production times, increasing image quality and amplifying the range of print media applications for Printer Services Providers (PSP) HP started the development of HP Latex 700/800 Series. Our goal was to redefine the experience of printing with Latex inks: improving and making more comfortable and easy every physical and digital workflow. Productivity requires bigger hardware, so we paid attention to usability, defining an architecture that boosts users daily tasks. The design and CMF conveys robustness, productivity and symbolizes the white ink on HP portfolio.

  • After weeks of use, customers scored between the top 5 features of hp Latex 700 AND 800 the process of loading rolls and the “fresh design”.

We built prototypes with different archetypes where functional parts could be lifted, giving full access to load rolls. The height of the printer was reduced considering users from the lowest percentiles so that most of interactions allows neutral body position. Users tested these prototypes, scoring high the full access to the print-zone and the fact that they could load rolls without being on their knees.

  • Front to front interaction architecture defined with the user in mind, requires 115% less space that main competitors.

Real size prototype of the design direction was validated with customers and used as a tool to improve proportions and details. This prototype was key to develop final parts made of tooling.
