Developing the world's most sustainable ink cartridge, from the first idea to global product launch. The successful market introduction sparked a chain reaction in the print industry, with competitors following suit with similar products, establishing HP as a leading beacon in the industry.
The chainreaction i always hoped for finaly happened! Reducing emissions by 700.000 tons of co2e anualy!
A few years ago, together with a small team we kickstarted the development the hp #eco carton ink cartridge reducing #emissions by about 350000 tons of #co2 a year. (also making the empty cartridges more manageable for HPs takeback #PlanetPartnerProgram)
And now just in time for European Week For Waste Reduction #EWWR finally the first competitor is following in our footsteps (or footprints?). Roland DG Corporation rolled out their own version of a cardboard cartridge. Reducing the use of by 80% resulting in a similar reducion of around 350000 tons of co2 anualy.
I congratulate Roland DG Corporation for their move towards a more sustainable future.
But what i really want to see is a competitor lead the way with an even better solution.

We built prototypes with different archetypes where functional parts could be lifted, giving full access to load rolls. The height of the printer was reduced considering users from the lowest percentiles so that most of interactions allows neutral body position. Users tested these prototypes, scoring high the full access to the print-zone and the fact that they could load rolls without being on their knees.
Real size prototype of the design direction was validated with customers and used as a tool to improve proportions and details. This prototype was key to develop final parts made of tooling.
